Leather Track Pants

Welcome to part two of my incredible Fashion Week experience.  To kick off fashion week I went for leather track pants and my go to classic black and white.  I must admit, I was skeptical about the leather track pant, I mean it is a pretty strange combo.  The name, “track pants” implies you are on your way to the gym probably in the 90s, but the track pant is no longer reserved for the gym and is now found on runways and thank God for that because the last thing I would ever want to do in these pants is work out……holy hotness!  Once I realized these pants are really just an oxymoron, I was able to embrace them to the fullest extent and not surprisingly fell in love.

New York Fashion Week (pt 1)

In case you missed my obsessive instagrams and tweets, I attended the first two days of New York Fashion Week and it was one of the most incredible experiences EVER!  I saw some beautiful, life changing fashion shows & presentations and was endlessly inspired by the unparalleled street style that can only be witnessed at Fashion Week.  Stay tuned all week for a rundown of my fashion week experience with runway pics from Tadashi Shoji, Rebecca Minkoff and Honor, exclusive looks from the Novis and Tome presentations, as well as party pics and some phenomenal celebrity sightings!  To start off my week of coverage check out what I wore to Day Two of Fashion Week.

Loving Leather

For my interview with the iconic Tadashi Shoji I turned to one of my style staples and the timeless black and white “trend.”  I must admit I was very nervous leading up to the interview so wanted to be in something that I not only felt great in, but something I also felt comfortable in.  Now that I think about it this is quite in line with Shoji’s philosophy.  So I turned to leather.  Leather is huge this spring and is so luxurious!  If real leather isn’t your thing go for the vegan alternative, which is equally as fabulous!  I am all about mixing textures and wearing leather is the perfect way to dabble with this.  Try integrating leather into your wardrobe with an unexpected top, with a classic jacket or accessory, or just go bold and pair leather with leather.

This top is so wonderful because it has many different textures (hello leather) and silhouettes. Peplum is also one of my favs for spring!

A black pump is a wardrobe staple, especially when black and white color blocking is so big this spring.

Wedge Sneaker

The Wedge Sneaker is the trend everyone loves to hate and can best be described as polarizing, well I would say fabulous but there are a lot of nay sayers ready to hate.  The wedge sneaker is so wonderful because it combines fashion, fun and comfort.  It is very rare that comfort and fashion are used in the same sentence so I think we should take a moment to appreciate the greatness and rarity of this combination and embrace the wedge in all its glory!

Peplum forever

Peplum, my latest obsession is so wonderful, because it creates the most flattering silhouette and literally works with all body types!  Another reason I love peplum is because it is so versatile.  Not only can it be dressed up or down, but you can have a peplum top, dress, skirt or pants!  There are so many ways for you to integrate this trend into your wardrobe the list is endless and fabulous!

Back in Black (and White)

I know I have already featured black and white for spring, but I seriously can’t get enough!  Black and white is classic while also being fashion forward, making it timeless.  I also love this trend, because anyone can rock it and the components are already in your closet.  I love me some color, but black and white is currently my uniform (this also might have something to do with the painfully frigid weather). Black and white is so fabulous because you can take it in many different directions, it can be graphic, you can mix prints, you can color block, go fancy or casual, which is exactly what I am doing in today’s post.  So embrace my uniform and get ready for spring.
