It’s a Wrap

Made infamous by Diane Von Furstenberg, the wrap dress is now a staple in every girl’s closet.  The wrap dress is always flattering and always in style making it the perfect piece and it can be dressed up or down making it superb for any occasion.   You can go bold with a print or bright color or use it as the canvas and let the jewelry pop.  It is such a simple and classic silhouette, with the cinched waist and appropriately deep v, the wrap dress is truly perfection.

Also make sure to check out all of the jewelry worn in this post because one piece will be given away to one of my lucky readers! So get excited and check back this Wednesday for details and the official rules of entry for this super fab GIVEAWAY courtesy of Fornash!!!

Autumn Inspiration

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year.  I love when the air turns crisp, the leaves start to change, and all you need is a light jacket to stay warm.  Acting as a staple and statement with each wear, finding the perfect fall jacket is crucial to rounding out your wardrobe and this year is no different than any other.  My go to this fall is J. Crew’s utility jacket.  It is the perfect transition weight and the army green almost acts as a neutral color allowing it to easily be paired with a broad range of colors, patterns and textures.  I have no doubt that this jacket will be in everyone’s closet this fall!
This post also features my fall uniform, which is a men’s oversized shirt, leggings (and yes I am wearing them as pants, *gasp*), boots, an oversized scarf, and obvs my item jacket (which will be replaced by my leather coat as it gets chillier).  While I wear everything featured in my blog in real life (multiple times, paired with different pieces depending on my mood) this look more so than any other is the truest reflection of me.

Jacket: J. Crew (found here), Pants: Ann Taylor Loft (old, similar found here), Shirt: Simon Spurr (last season, similar found here), Scarf: Zara (old, similar found here), Boots: Jeffrey Campbell (last season, similar found here), Bag: Michael Kors (last season, similar found here)

Mixing patterns is tricky, but on trend, so an easy way to experiment is with a patterned scarf

One of the reasons I love this jacket so much is because of the gold finishing, which is accentuated by gold jewelry.

A good boot is crucial to surviving fall and winter! I love these because they add edge to any look, but the loose wrap differentiates them from the classic motorcycle boot.

Busting out in bustiers

Bustiers have become a staple this season, which is convenient since this summer has been unseasonably steamy.  Once upon a time bustiers were only worn as undergarments, but now have emerged as the eye catching statement piece of a look.  I know you might not believe me when I say this, but bustiers lend themselves to many different styles and can range from skimpy to (semi) conservative and cropped to full coverage.  The absolute key to successfully pulling off a bustier is fit, so take heed when purchasing or when assembling your look.

conservative take on the bustier & the matching vibrant yellow really makes the look pop

Leopard

Similar to bold prints, leopard print is a great way to add a little flair to any outfit and you can make it as bold or as subtle as you want!  I have a leopard print scarf that I seriously wear with everything and it is a great way to elevate any look.

I am obsessed with the cut and fit of the blazer, as well as the black trim--also appropriate for all seasons!

the sweater is such an interesting take on leopard print and i love that it is combined with leopard loafers! if you want a more demur splash of leopard just go for the loafers.

you can't go wrong with a sheer belted leopard dress. this would be perfect for the spring and summer and just pair it with a blazer or leather coat to transition to fall.
