The Trusty Sweatshirt

I was cleaning out the attic at my parents house and came across an old Hanes sweatshirt I bought from a thrift store in high school.  I have practically been living in the sweatshirt since I rediscovered this treasure.  I have mixed and matched it with skirts, skinnies, my beloved leather joggers and finally workwear.  So one work day morning, when getting out of bed was particularly impossible, it should come as no surprise to you that I turned to my trusty sweatshirt.  I love pushing the boundaries of work wear and redefining pieces that might otherwise be overlooked.  While rocking a sweatshirt to work is not for every office, know that it can be done by dressing it up with complimentary accessories and garments.

Perforated Perfection

I don’t think it is any secret that I love leather!  I think leather is the best addition to any ensemble, and really the more leather the better.  Leather adds depth, edge and excitement to any look.  I like to experiment with different leather articles and accessories, as well as different leather textures and shapes.  The options are endless!  One of my favorite recent purchases is this perforated leather shift dress, which is perfect for work and weekend.  Experiment and embrace leather (vegan or real).

Romping Around

One of my absolute staples for every season and every occasion is the romper.  The romper, also known as the jumpsuit is just perfection and shockingly versatile!  While I will admit going to the bathroom in a romper can be challenging it is not enough of a deterrent to turn me away from this show stopping piece.  As with most things I post about, fit is crucial!  Rompers ARE for everyone, but make sure to find the silhouette that flatters your body, paying close attention to where it sinches, the leg width, and the cut of the bust line.

This is the last photo shoot from my trip to Hawaii and holy moly do I miss it! I mean, how beautiful is this sunset!

Denim Vest Take Two

Denim outwear is timeless and fabulous.  This is not my first post dedicated to the denim vest (check the other post out here) and I don’t think it will be my last (sorry I’m not sorry).  I love this piece because it is perfect for layering, enhancing an outfit and adding a little spice to any ensemble.  Throw a denim vest over a dress, pair it with some more denim or let it stand alone as top, however you decide to wear it make sure you rock it with confidence and it will undoubtedly be spectacular.

Dare to Bare

Another summer obsession and heat wave survival essential is the crop top.  I know I said it before and dedicated a post to the 90s, but they are back in a big way and the resurgence of the crop top is another wonderful 90s trend that has reared its fabulous head.  While the 90s were dominated by grunge, the crop top has taken on a more versatile role.  Baring your midriff is not only on trend but it can also be done in a tasteful sophisticated way.  This is another trend that I constantly hear people say they cannot rock, but to the naysayers out there I say, you can do it!  As always, comfort is key so only bare what feels right to you and from there, go wild!

Layers on Layers on Layers

This has been a pretty unpredictable spring and by spring I mean extended winter with a few warm days mixed in that act as a cruel tease!  I have desperately been pushing spring wear and every week I try to retire my tights, boots, and everything winter related, but sadly I have not been able to.  So it is time that I embrace this crazy weather and forgive Phil the Groundhog for lying to us all when he predicted an early spring.  I have not completely given up on spring, but must face the cold hard facts.  So my secret to surviving this crazy weather: layering!  Layering is the only way to survive an unpredictable spring and it allows you to integrate spring into your ensembles without freezing your butt off and most importantly layering can be incredibly chic.

I love this preppy and casual ensemble. Neon is one of my favorites and adds much needed light to this dreary weather.
