Oversized Sweater: The Winter Uniform

Don’t let this warm week trick you!  It is still winter and we are in store for another cold front (hopefully the warmth will last through the Inauguration though).  So my solution to braving the chilly winter winds is the oversized sweater.  If you haven’t embraced it already, it is time!  Remember the cozier the better, but always keep your frame in mind.  Regardless of the size, the sweater should always be flattering.  And if you don’t want to invest in this super cozy garment, which I highly suggest you do, you can always borrow or steal one from a boyfriend, friend, brother, hubby or any man in your life.

You can't go wrong with super skinny pants and an extra oversized top! I'm also loving the flat pointed boots and Lennon glasses.

Ombre of Sequins

Happy New Year!! This post is dedicated to New Year’s Eve, 2013, the future, all things great and my blindingly blinged out outfit.  As always, glitter was the theme of the night and I always dress for the occasion.  I hope everyone had an incredible New Year’s Eve and that 2013 brings you all the best!

Pants: BCBG (similar found here), Blouse: BCBG (similar found here), Coat: Forever 21 (similar found here), Shoes: BCBG (similar found here), Bag: Vintage (similar found here), Necklace: NaHoku (similar found here)

This is definitely one of the sparkliest NYE outfits I have ever worn, which is really saying a lot. The matte sequins almost have a liquid effect perfectly complimenting the architectural bold sequins pants.

Something about these pieces says 20s to me, yet the pants are unlike anything I've ever seen. I also had to incorporate a little ombre of sequins and different shades of gold into the look.

Day Four of Garden of Glam’s Holiday Gift Guide: Jessie (Marketing Director for Go Try It On)

Jessie is the Marketing Director for Go Try It On, my favorite fashion app.  Go Try It On allows you to explore the social side of style and  follow your fav bloggers, brands, stores and anyone who has downloaded the fashionably innovative app.  Most importantly, Go Try It On enables you to discover inspiration from anyone anywhere with a diverse world of style at your fingertips.

As a reminder, I have asked each contributor to share what’s on their wish list and give list this holiday season with hopes of making your holiday shopping a little easier.

Kymerah Carmen Starling Fur Jacket.  I could never justify spending this on myself and would definitely feel guilty if I received it as a gift–but wouldn’t return it… 🙂

This jacket is absolutely to die for, but is a pretty big splurge so should only be given to those close to you.  For a more affordable version go for the faux alternative.

By Zoe, Circle Jacket.  I’m a sucker for anything denim and with the collar detail (that is detachable) it’s perfect and easily transitions from fall to spring.

Jessie stole my heart with this jacket!  I love that it is a jean take on the classic motorcycle jacket.  This is a great gift for a sister, girlfriend or daughter.

Thanksgiving Fur

This post is dedicated to my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.  The key to dressing for success on Thanksgiving is embracing comfortable, stretchy clothes.  Go Try It On, one of my favorite fashion apps, asked me to put a Thanksgiving outfit together that is fabulous and forgiving of seconds. Every Thanksgiving my family goes around the table and says what they are thankful for and like every year, I am thankful for my family and friends.  I am thankful for their support, love, laughs, strength and traditions.  The moments I share with them mean everything!

I hope everyone had an incredible Thanksgiving with loved ones and, of course, enjoyed extra helpings.

Vest: Adrienne Landau (last season, similar found here), Pants: BDG (old, similar found here), Shirt: Vanishing Elephant (found here), Shoes: Zara (old, similar found here), Bracelets: Random Assortment, some of which are Aldo and Urban Outfitters (found here and here), Watch: Michael Kors (found here), Necklaces: NaHoku & Gorjana (found here)

These pants are absolutely my favorite and I wear them with everything! They are also super stretchy which makes them perfect for Thanksgiving.

This shirt is another one of my favs. I love chambray and because this is a mens shirt it is the perfect amount of oversized.

A vest can completely transform a look and fur just takes it to another level.

Camo

Camo has made the most unexpected yet refreshing appearance this season.  A print normally found in the woods during hunting trips or on the battlefield has made its way onto fashionistas and red carpets.  Camo adds an air of indifference and ruggedness to each look acting as the perfect print to protect you from the chilly fall and winter winds.

surprising & successful pairing of pleats and camo

FNO Georgetown (InstaStyle)

This past Thursday marked an important evening in the fashion world, a night where people put on their finest and roamed the streets in search of a party, a good deal and with hopes of being noticed.  This magical night that I am describing is Fashion’s Night Out, which is really just a celebration of all things fabulous and oh yes, spending.  This was my first FNO and I had a wonderful time!  I saw some incredibly inspirational outfits, met some marvelous people, and may or may not have purchased a few things (all in the name of the economy, right?).  Please enjoy my FNO Georgetown as seen through the lovely lens of Instagram.

Top: old, Pants: H&M, Watch: Michael Kors, Cuff: Gift, Necklace: BCBG (found here), Clutch: Gigee Marie (similar found here)

Details of the evening. Rings: BCBG (old) & Annie Cream Cheese

View from above. Shoes: DVF (old)

Clearly, I am a fan of the black and white combo! I am obsessed with these pants that at first glance could pass as a skirt!

Love the intricate sequins and beading patterns. I also love the unexpected fur accessory add on.

Looking fabulous in sequins, chambray, & motorcycle boots

Brave pairing of stripes and leopard

Best dressed couple of the evening! Kevin Gray of MensStylePoint.

Obsessed with each element of these ensembles.

Fab fall accents

My dear friend Sadie looking incredible in a sparkly beaded skirt, paired for perfection with a sheer flowy blouse
