Workin’ it in the Leather Jogger

When I decided to go to Fashion Week this past Fall, I purchased a pair of leather sweatpants (or joggers).  I thought, “I don’t know when I will ever wear these again, but whatever its fashion week.”  Luckily, my first impression could not have been more wrong!  The leather jogger has been surprisingly versatile and the true test of versatility is, “can you wear it to work and on the weekend” and I am here to tell you that you can in fact wear leather track pants to work! The richness of the black leather adds subtlety to a seemingly flamboyant article of clothing and when paired with a something more conservative they are perfectly work appropriate!  Worried your boss might disagree? No worries, send them my way and I will set them straight!  I am absolutely thrilled that these pants don’t live in the past fashion weeks corner of my closet and instead can live on!

Leather Track Pants

Welcome to part two of my incredible Fashion Week experience.  To kick off fashion week I went for leather track pants and my go to classic black and white.  I must admit, I was skeptical about the leather track pant, I mean it is a pretty strange combo.  The name, “track pants” implies you are on your way to the gym probably in the 90s, but the track pant is no longer reserved for the gym and is now found on runways and thank God for that because the last thing I would ever want to do in these pants is work out……holy hotness!  Once I realized these pants are really just an oxymoron, I was able to embrace them to the fullest extent and not surprisingly fell in love.

Behind the Scenes of my NYFW Experience

Spring/Summer 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was absolutely epic!  I would go as far as to say that this has been the most groundbreaking fabulous fashion week of all time.  I am slightly biased though, as this was my first time actually attending fashion week, and it was every bit as magical as I thought it would be!  I saw some gorgeous, life changing shows and presentations and had the opportunity to meet some legendary style icons.  Basically, I had the most wonderful time ever!  I hope you enjoy my snapshots from my two days of ecstasy and please forgive the less crisp pics, this is NYFW as captured through my phone.

I also need to give a special thank you to Zeba Rashid, Anne Caruso, and Dena Giannini.  You made my epic fashion week whirlwind possible!  I can NEVER thank you enough!

 TADASHI SHOJI

Tadashi ShojiThe first show I attended for NYFW (and ever) was Tadashi Shoji.  This was the most incredible way to kick off fashion week!  His designs are elegant, modern, and effortlessly beautiful!  It was full of show stoppers, which was not surprising at all, but absolutely breathtaking.

REBECCA MINKOFF

I legitimately had goosebumps throughout the entire Rebecca Minkoff show–being in the second row probably had something to do with this too!  Janelle Monae opened the show and performed throughout setting the scene for a truly incredible experience for the audience.  The show was full of energy, color, prints, and the most fierce gladiator sandals EVER!

HONOR

I must admit this Fashion Week was my first introduction to Novis and I am beyond obsessed! I literally wanted everything shown in the presentation!  The presentation was made up of vibrant colors and prints, sheer accents, and basic yet fabulous pieces!  Obsessed is really the only word I have for the Novis presentation.

I stalked Louise Roe after the Rebecca Minkoff show and she was kind enough to take a pic! She said I looked chic and I almost died!

Aimee Song

Aimee Song (Song of Style) is another style icon of mine! She is fabulous and was so friendly!

Black & White

Black and white is a timeless color combination.  Donning this classic duo, not only allows you to exude ease and class, but putting the look together is actually easy.  Color blocking is very on trend, but can be tricky and can quickly end in disaster if you don’t have an eye for color.  Black and white is the original color block and oozes sophistication.  And because this is such an effortless pairing it allows you to mix fabric textures more freely.

perfect for way to transition your wardrobe to cooler weather. i love the intricate cropped top paired with a classic black maxi.
