InstaGlam

Happy Holidays!! This edition of InstaGlam is dedicated to a fabulous fashionista I met at my brother’s birthday party.  Jocelyn looked absolutely incredible in leather and pleats, a stunning and unexpected combination.  Each aspect of her outfit was executed with flawless purpose, from her gold accessories to the blindingly neon shoes she was absolute perfection!  Jocelyn’s ensemble is also so fantastic because it is appropriate for many occasions and would be an absolute show stopper on New Years!

For more insta style follow me on instagram and of course twitter!

I love the contrast between the leather and pleats and how fabulous is her mani!

I love the contrast between hard (leather) and soft (pleats).  The gold accents are also do die for.

Holiday Gift Guide

Day Fifteen of Garden of Glam’s Holiday Gift Guide

Today is the fifteenth and final day of Garden of Glam’s Gift Guide and the special guest is none other than your curator of all things fabulous, me.  I hope you have enjoyed the gift guide as much as I have and have been inspired by my incredible guests and their creative, unique, and swoon worthy wish and give lists.  The downside to compiling this gift guide is that my wish list has tripled, but on the upside this has been the most stress free shopping season EVER.  Not to brag, but I finished all of my Christmas shopping with time to spare, this has literally never happened to me before.  But fear not shopping delinquents, there is still time for overnight delivery and of course shopping in a store.

I want to thank all of my wonderful contributors–this absolutely would not have been possible without you!!  Thank you thank you thank you and Happy Holidays!!

Polaroid Instant Digital Camera.  I am totally obsessed with this camera!  It’s time to bring back the polaroid, they are the definition of instant gratification and there is something about polaroids that just makes the pictures better!  So amazing!  This is on my wish & give list this season and would be perfect for a significant other, sibling, friend, roommate or cousin.

Cole Haan Cassidy Bootie.  I have been in search of the perfect black bootie all fall/winter and I have finally found it!  They are the perfect height for every day wear and I love that they have a brown heel.  They also use Nike Air technology, which I’m assuming means they are the most comfortable shoe to ever exist.  These are at the top of my wish list!  Perfect for a significant other, sibling, cousin or friend.

Warby Parker Preston Glasses.  Warby Parker is such an incredible company! Not only do they have stylish, flattering glasses that are reasonably priced, they also donate a pair of glasses to someone in need for every pair that is sold.  I currently wear the Zagg frames and am excited to add Preston into the rotation.  This would be a great gift for a glasses wearing friend who likes to mix things up.  And don’t worry about finding the perfect frame as a gift, you can also buy gift certificates and they make amazing sunglasses now!

Kindle from Amazon.  This is a practical and thoughtful gift (and also on my wish list).  Kindle’s are wonderful, because they are light weight, you can download anything instantly on them, and you can adjust the font size making it a perfect gift for people that have vision problems.  I prefer the original kindle to the fire, because there isn’t any back lighting making it easier on the eyes.

Tickets to Book of Mormon on Broadway.  My boyfriend is literally the hardest person to shop for in the whole entire world and I normally strike out when I buy him material things so I have moved on to experiences.  This year I bought us tickets to see Book of Mormon on Broadway, something that he has been dying to see.  Obviously, you don’t have to buy tickets to this show specifically, but check out what’s at the Kennedy Center!  I love going to the ballet and try to see Alvin Ailey whenever they are in town, not your thing?  What about the symphony or a play?

Smart Wool Socks.  These get me through the winter every year.  I went to college in Wisconsin and quickly had to learn how to adapt to the subzero winters and these saved me!  They come in different thicknesses and lengths and are perfect for boots.  I also have a pair of Smart Wool gloves that are to die for!  This is a gender neutral gift that you can give to anyone in your life!

Rider Mixed-Media Top Handle Bag by Loeffler Randall.  I love the size of this bag and the python detail and neutral color-blocking.  No matter the size of my bag, I tend to fill it up which can get quite heavy.  This is the perfect size to hold my essentials, but isn’t cumbersome so it’s perfect for when I am out all day prepping shoots.

This bag is absolutely stunning!  I have the same problem as Dena and without fail always manage to over stuff my bag.  This is great for every day use and the internal dividers make it practical.  Perfect for a girlfriend, wife, fiancé, sister or mother.

OPI gelshine at-home gel system.  Gel manicures are the best thing that ever happened to my nails.  Regular manicures only last a maximum of two days and with gel the polish stays nice for at least 10.  I’m getting my little sister, who is a freshman in college, this great gel mani set to use at school.

Such a thoughtful and practical gift–gel has completely revolutionized mani/pedis!  I am horrible at painting my nails so make sure you give this to someone that is ambidextrous!  Perfect for a friend, girlfriend, sister, cousin, aunt, or mom.

Holiday Gift Guide

Day Thirteen of Garden of Glam’s Holiday Gift Guide: Staci (costume designer)

Staci is one of my most creative and driven people I know.  The first modeling I ever did was for Staci’s look book for one of her design classes in college and wow was I bad, luckily Staci’s clothes were so fabulous you didn’t notice the awkward model in them. (To clarify the second modeling I did was for my blog–few improvements have been made).  Staci is currently the Assistant Costume Designer on the star studded “Winter’s Tale” and before that was the Assistant Costume Designer for Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah.”  She has also worked on “Men in Black 3,” “Mildred Pierce,” “American Gangster,” and worked side by side with Academy Award winner Janty Yates.  Staci’s talent and innovation help give insight into the characters she dresses.

Tsovet QS Men’s Watch.  I love accessories that are inspired by menswear, especially pieces inspired by classic menswear, which is always sexy on a woman.  I am drawn to the combination of the cognac leather band with the contrasting stitching and the graphite face of the watch.  Additionally, it’s oversized and I love that the stones add a touch of femininity and refinement.  Not to mention it’s waterproof!  In an industry like mine, which is more nitty gritty than glamorous, function meeting fashion makes this a great find for me.

Staci is a girl after my own heart–I love androgynous clothing and oversized accessories!  This watch is gender neutral and would be perfect for a parent, significant other or sibling.

Such beautiful, classic and practical pieces.  My dad actively uses a magnifying glass as his vision fades making this a wonderful gift for him.  Perfect for a co-worker, friend, parent, significant other, in law, or aunt/uncle.

Branch Earphone Splitter.  I have this gift in mind for my twin sister because people like to listen to what she has on her mp3 player.  This way she can share.

Um yes please!  This has been added to my wish list!  Just this weekend, my boyfriend and I had to share a set of head phones on the train to NY, which was fine but obviously the sound quality was degraded.  These are a perfect stocking stuffer and great for anyone in your life!  Also, check out these super cute headphones that are also on Tony’s give list.
