Party in the front, business in the back

Hi Lo dresses and skirts are you the best of both worlds!  It allows you to show a little leg in the front, but gives you more coverage in the back, giving the stunning effect of a maxi.  I absolutely love hi lo, because I always play with short hemlines, so hi lo allows me to go short while also having a conservative edge.  I also love the full length of maxis, making hi lo a combination of two of my normally conflicting styles.

Peppy in peplum

Peplum is wonderful for all figures.  It gives the illusion of curves when you don’t have them or turns the curviest of frames into the ultimate voluptuous pinup.  Peplum allows you to elevate any look by introducing new dimensions and creating stunning silhouettes.  Peplum skirts can be paired with any top (casual or dressy) and peplum tops look incredible with a simple skinny jean or skirt.  And did I mention peplum is perfect for all occasions?

Cut it Out

I absolutely LOVE cut outs!  Cut outs are the perfect way to add peek-abo sexy to any outfit and it can be as subtle or extreme as you feel comfortable with.  Summer style tip: incorporating cut outs into your look is an easy & fabulous way to beat the heat.

Easy Dinner

As I have said before, I am no chef, but I love experimenting in the kitchen and by experimenting I mean strictly following a recipe.  Pinterest has opened my eyes up to cooking and I have learned that delicious things aren’t actually that complicated to make.  This week I made salmon, fried eggplant with goat cheese, and a raw kale salad, and I must say, it was shockingly easy and quite delicious.  Enjoy!

Eggplant Goat Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients for the eggplant sandwich

Frying the eggplant

1 Eggplant

Soft Goat Cheese

Panko Bread Crumbs

Olive Oil

Tomato Sauce (I cheated and didn’t make fresh sauce…don’t judge me)

Salt & Pepper

Slice the eggplant into ½ inch pieces (make sure you have an even amount of slices so you can form the sandwiches).  Heat the pan on the stove.  While the pan is heating cover the eggplant slices in olive oil.  Pour the Panko breadcrumbs on a separate plate and add salt and pepper to taste.  Place the olive oil covered eggplant in the Panko breadcrumbs and make sure the slices are completely covered.  Pour olive oil into the heated pan and then place the breaded eggplant slices into the pan.  Flip the eggplants and remove when browned.  Watch them carefully so they don’t burn!  Spread a generous dollop of goat cheese onto the cooked eggplant and place another cooked slice on top.  Plate the eggplant sandwiches on a mound of tomato sauce and enjoy.

Raw Kale Salad

Salad before mixing

Kale

Red Onion

Cannellini Beans

Lemon

Red Wine Vinegar

Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper

Wash and cut up the kale and place in a large bowl.  For the dressing, very thinly slice a 1/2 cup of the red onion.  Add this to a separate bowl with the vinegar & olive oil, lemon, and salt & pepper.  Add the dressing and cannellini beans to the kale and mix.  Super easy!

Simple Salmon

Fresh Salmon

Spice rub

Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper

Heat up the sauce pan.  Cover the salmon with the spice rub of your choice or just simply season with salt & pepper.  Place seasoned salmon on the pan and cook until finished this will take approximately 10-15 minutes (depending on the size of the piece).

The delicious finished product

Jean Vest

My new favorite accessory that isn’t really an accessory is the denim vest.  Adding a denim vest to any of your “go to” outfits is the perfect way to update your look and an some edge to your wardrobe.  You can seriously do no wrong! I recommend experimenting with washes (dark or light), studs, rips, or frayed edges and of course layering to reach denim perfection.

Red, White & Blue

Happy 4th of July!! The 4th of July is a wonderful day of celebration, normally spent by the pool or at the beach with a cool drink in hand and red, white & blue covering every surface possible.  The 4th can be a slightly scary day for fashion, with looks veering more towards costume than stylish.  Fear not though…there is a way embrace our patriotic colors and still look fabulous and impeccably put together.  I hope everyone has an amazing 4th of July, enjoys the fireworks, and embraces red, white & blue in the most fashionable way possible!

I am absolutely obsessed with these leggings and overall hipster grunge look!
